

Rose Ann Hall “Aunt Rose, Mama Rose,” 87, of Charlotte, North Carolina, formerly of Temple Hall, Jamaica, unexpectedly transitioned through heaven’s gate on February 14, 2022, at Atrium Pineville Hospital in Charlotte. Born December 22, 1934, in St. Ann, Jamaica, she is preceded by her parents, Samuel and Esmilda Hall of Madras, sisters Keziah, Mari, and brother Claudius.

Rose Ann is survived by her six children: Willis Bembridge, Lexford Brown ( Santa), Louis Bailey, Anthony Gibbs (Tony), Early-May Gibbs (Claudette), and Carlene Spence-Bell; Grandchildren: Anthony (Andrew), Samantha, Sadiki (Bembridge), Latoya Aquart-Foster, John-Ross Evering, Raheal Shabbir, Yolande (Terraine), Danio (Andre), Deana-Kay, Abigail (Bailey), Luke Lumsden, Elizabeth-Rose Bell, Samantha, Kenroy, Cleopatra, Benroy (Brown), Ian, Orlando, Dian (Gibbs); 15 great-grandchildren; nieces Sylvia Callum, Gloria Robinson, Merlyn Codner, Elaine McKenzie, and many other loving relatives and close friends.
Before attending the Unity Secondary School, where she completed her high school equivalency education, Rose Ann attended Gibraltar All Age School. She was an active member of her community and the church. By 1970 Rose Ann relocated to St. Andrew. She became well known in her adopted community of Lawrence Tavern for her generosity. While working at the “Bread Shop,” Rose Ann made sure no child went hungry because of their inability to pay.
In 1987 Rose Ann migrated to the Cayman Islands, where she lived for over ten years. Upon her retirement in the late 1990s, she returned to Jamaica and became an involved member of the Temple New Testament Church of God. Rose Ann remained an active member of the prayer team, ladies ministry, and food for the needy.
Rose Ann was a woman of God. Family and friends were Rose Ann’s passion and delight. She adored her sister (Keziah) and her nieces, with whom she spent significant time during her many visits to New York. In 2013, Rose Ann migrated to Charlotte, North Carolina, to live with her daughter Carlene Spence- Bell.

An evening visitation for Rose Ann will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 6 - 8 pm at McEwen Funeral Home - Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.
A visitation for Rose Ann will be held Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Good Shepherd UMC, 13110 Moss Road, Charlotte, NC 28273, followed by a funeral at 2 pm.
A graveside service will occur Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Zoar Road UMC Cemetery, 13611 Zoar Rd., Charlotte, NC 28278.
