Ruby Holden Pearce

Ruby Holden Pearce, 98, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at The Haven at Carolina Place in Pineville, NC. She was born in the small Wake County town of Rolesville, NC on September 8,1925 to Henry and Mildred Raines Holden. She was one of nine children. While still in high school she met the love of her life, C.V. Pearce. They were married for 67 years until his death in 2011.

Ruby was actively involved in her community and church. She was a faithful member of Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church and Craig Avenue ARP Church (King’s Cross ARP Church) for many years. Throughout her life she was a great supporter of her husband, their business and her children.

Ruby is survived by her daughters, Lee Tolar (Doug), Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Lynne Hull (Len), Charlotte, NC, and her son Mark Pearce, Waxhaw, NC. One of her greatest joys was becoming “YaYa” to her grandchildren: Meredith Tolar, Lauren Tolar Minyard, Whitney Hull Fulton (Sage), Taylor Pearce (Alla) and Caroline Pearce Adams (Eric); and great grandchildren, Will, Ruby and Drew Fulton, Nash and Penn Minyard, Liam Pearce and Poppy Adams. Ruby is also survived by her brother, Harold Holden, Newport, NC, nieces and nephew.

In addition to her parents, two brothers and five sisters, Ruby was preceded in death by her grandson, Andrew Pearce Hull.

The family will receive friends, on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11 o’clock at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212, followed by the funeral service at 12 noon. Dr. Nathan Frazier will officiate. Private entombment will be in the Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts in Ruby’s memory be directed to either Hospice of Charlotte Region, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204, or to King’s Cross Church, 3936 Craig Ave., Charlotte, NC 28211.
