died Friday June 20, 2014 at her home in Mooresville, N.C.
The family and friends of Rubye S. Dodson are saddened by her passing and will miss her beautiful smile, stellar sense of humor and witty conversations.
Rubye was born February 25, 1919 in Charlotte, NC and was the daughter of the late Cora Thompson Stikeleather and James Carl Stikeleather, Sr.
Rubye is survived by her loving brother, Alex Stikeleather, multiple in-laws and a host of nieces and nephews. She adored them all.
Rubye was married to Charles Furman Dodson in 1941 and he was the love of her life. They had a blessed marriage and a huge circle of friends and family. They both worked at Duke Power and lived in various cities all over North and South Carolina making lifelong friends. Charles passed away in 1985, but Rubye spoke lovingly of him every single day.
Rubye lived a wonderful life and as she often said “There were ups and downs, but mostly ups”. She was blessed with good health and no chronic illness for her entire life.
She loved her little dog “Baby” who was by her side constantly. Rubye loved bridge and played often, even playing on-line with folks all over the world until a few months ago. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, stayed up on current events, politics and followed NASCAR closely. She could watch tennis for hours.
Rubye was a long time member of West Corinth Baptist Church, 120 Corinth Church Road, Mooresville, NC 28115, where Memorials can be sent in her name.
