

Ruth Woodle Freeman, 87, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born March 7, 1938 in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of the late Silas Alton and Ethel Agnes (Jenkins) Woodle. She married James E. Freeman on March 8, 1958 in York, SC.
A member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Charlotte, Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She spent her time sewing, quilting, crocheting, making Cabbage Patch Dolls, gardening and spending time watching birds.
Ruth was a true giver that loved telling others about Jesus. She was concerned for others and made sure that they were taken care of. She prayed for everyone that she came in contact with.
Her children and grandchildren were a big part of her life. She enjoyed the time spent with them, especially during the holidays.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 67 years, James Freeman; children, Julie (Greg) Fullwood, Kerry (Lynn) Freeman and James "Eric" (Patti) Freeman; grandchildren, Ferrell Freeman, Erica (Lee) Phipps, Lindsay (Cory) Hunt, Jonathan Freeman, Emily (Marcus) Luckey and Mike (Jessie) Freeman; numerous great-grandchildren; twin sister, Rachel Smith; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew; siblings, Donald, Betty and Junior.
A visitation for Ruth will be held Monday, May 5, 2025 from 11:00 AM until the time of her funeral service at 12:00 PM in the sanctuary of Hillcrest Baptist Church, 8501 Bellhaven Blvd., Charlotte, NC. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Condolences may be submitted at www.forestlawnwest.com.
