Mr. Samuel C. Wright

Samuel Clyde Wright age 90 of Charlotte passed away November 7, 2014. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM Tuesday, November 11th at Calvary Baptist Church, 10301 Harwood Lane, Reverends Brian Taule and Tony Harper officiating. A visitation will be one hour (10-11AM) at the church prior to the service. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery with Military Rites. Mr. Wright was born October 20,, 1924 in Arden NC son of the late Samuel Addison and Sara Jane Wright. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, was a faithful Sunday School member, the Senior Adult Group, Men’s Ministry Group, had served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and enjoyed gospel music and traveling with the seniors. Mr. Wright was a graduate of Valley Springs High School in Skyland, NC and attended the University of NC at Chapel Hill and earned a B. S. Degree in business administration. He served proudly in the USAF and retired as a Lt. Colonel receiving a WW II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal and an Air Force Medal. He is survived by a daughter, Betty Moore of Charlotte, granddaughters, Tamara Whitton of Charlotte, and Donna Scott and husband, Tom of Kernersville, NC, great grandsons, Robert and Benjamin Scott, five great-great-grandchildren, Landon, Harper, Parker, Jack, and Lila and a niece, Sandra Jenkins Meadow of Arden, NC. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Jennie Sue Butler Wright. Memorials may be made to Hospice Palliative Care of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar St., Lincolnton, NC, 28092.
