Sarah "Frankie" Phifer Owens

Mrs. Owens, 88, of Charlotte, NC, died March 8, 2011 at Hunter Woods Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born September 16, 1922 in Union County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Franklin Phifer and Nannie Porter Phifer. Frankie, as she was affectionately known, was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and an active member of Southview Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir.

The Owens family will greet friends, Friday, March 11, 2011 from 10:00 AM until 11:30 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:30 AM in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.

Mrs. Owens is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Wilson T. Owens of Charlotte; two sons: Boyce “Eddie” Owens and wife, Betty and Russell Owens and wife, Angela both of Charlotte; and a daughter, Kathy Owens Lineberger and husband, Jeff of Indian Trail, NC; two sisters: Katherine Kennedy and husband, Roy of Charlotte and Edith Christy and husband, Bob of Arizona ; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
