Rev. Sidney Wilson White Jr.

Rev. Dr. Sidney Wilson White, Jr., 65, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Wake County, passed away peacefully at his home on September 11, 2025. Born October 27, 1959, to Sidney and Ollie White, he dedicated his life to faith, family, and service. A devoted servant of the Lord, he preached his first sermon at St. Matthew’s Baptist Church in Raleigh on June 22, 1997, and went on to serve as Minister with the Senior Ministry at Poplar Springs Christian Church and as Pastor of Hickory Grove Christian Church in Raleigh, NC. He earned his Doctorate in Biblical Studies degree in June 2011. He faithfully shepherded God’s people with humility and joy.

Alongside his ministry, Rev. White worked in transportation with the State of North Carolina. He also served his community as a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, boundless compassion, and his gift for making everyone feel like family. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 44 years, Theresa Jennings White; his children, Tyesha White Smith (Jeremy) and Sidney “ST” Wilson White III; his grandchildren, Landon and Wyatt Smith; and a host of family and friends who will carry on his legacy of love, faith, and family.

A private service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park for the family and close friends.
