Stuart Mitchell Copley, 36, passed away on June 27, 2025. Stuart is survived by parents Byron and Andrea, twin sister Elizabeth Schmidt (Adam), nephews Silas and Jonah, niece Margo; brother Zachary (Shannon), niece Ava, and nephew Andrew.
Stuart was born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 4, 1989. As a graduate of Universal Technical Institute in Mooresville, North Carolina, Stuart’s passion for cars drove him to pursue a 15-year career as an automotive technician for Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche.
He also had a desire to excel at anything he attempted, whether fishing, photography, hockey, guitar, golf, cooking, baking, biking, and much more.
“We are all one,” was a phrase that Stuart often spoke, because he believed in the interconnectedness of nature, the cosmos, and all people — bound by a strong spiritual force that he sought to understand.
Stuart’s unique outlook on life, and his somewhat exotic tastes, influenced his decision to select Vern, a pure-bred French Briard, as a companion. Donations are encouraged to assist South Charlotte Dog Rescue in placing dogs of all kinds to good homes.
As an avid golfer, Stuart would also welcome any donations made to The First Tee, Greater Charlotte Annual Fund.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Stuart at St. Ann Catholic Church located at 3635 Park Rd, Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
“See y’all when we are all stardust again.”
