Susan Comrie Buff
7 septiembre , 1948 – 20 junio , 2020
Susan Comrie Buff, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 71.
Susan was born in Freeport, Long Island (NY) to Allan and Margaret Comrie on September 7, 1948. She was a graduate of Freeport HS and attended college in Boston MA. In her earlier years, she was an avid skier and went on several ski trips to Colorado and Vermont. She loved to travel and visited such places as Brazil and Bogota, Colombia.
Susan spent most of her adult life in Charlotte. She worked for both the Charlotte Hornets and Charlotte Knights while also raising her two sons, Kevin and Drew. She was an original “super-mom”, working full time and then hauling her sons to every sports practice and activity, which was extensive and long before the “fancy” mini van. She finished her working career at Wells Fargo, where she retired in 2015.
In her latter years, she enjoyed gardening and doing home improvements. She loved her pets dearly, most recently Missy, her 100 lb. boxer mix.
Susan is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Comrie.
She is survived by her father, Allan Comrie, brother, Bruce and his wife Regina Comrie all of Amelia Island FL; son Kevin and his wife Kelley Simpson and two grandsons Hart and Sam all of Cary, NC; and son Drew Buff and his fiancé Allison Bono of Waxhaw, NC.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date and posted on the McEwen Funeral Home website.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to donate to your local animal shelter.

I am so sorry for your loss. It has been years since I was in touch with Susan but I have many fond memories of spending time with her and her children. I lived in Charlotte in the early 80s and knew Susan through a mutual friend. We spent time together in Myrtle Beach and took a ski trip with a group of people. I remember watching many sporting events at her townhouse and home. All these times are fond memories. She was a lovely person and a wonderful mother. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Heartfelt blessings for Susan and all of her family. My husband, Melvin, and I have been next door neighbors of Susan's since 2008, when we moved to Charlotte to be official grandparents, with opportunity to interact with our daughter's family. Susan was a very private person, yet I feel we had a wonderful relationship. We chatted often in our "comings and goings" at the front of our homes, and several times, along with a couple of neighbors, we enjoyed an evening meal together at a nearby restaurant. I feel that our mutual interest was animals. I knew her dog, "Missy", well and she was the love of Susan's life. Susan also shared concern and compassion for the occasional feral cats in our community, and the beautiful nature we saw every day around our townhomes. She was a wonderful and avid gardener. I always told her that I envied her "green thumb"! When she made a number of trips to Florida, I was always happy to water her many plants on her front and back patios, along with Melvin, my husband, who was happy to enlist help. I feel a great loss, along with my husband, Melvin, to know that Susan's time as our neighbor is over. We hold her close in mind and heart and in our prayers. Love and blessings to all of her family....Bea (& Melvin) Oettinger, Charlotte, NC

I got to know Susan through her son Drew when he and my daughter Allison were engaged. We all celebrated many holidays together and Susan was always such a joyful soul. I will always remember her coming to my home bringing me gifts of plants which I loved. She will be cherished in my heart. God bless you my friend.
