

Born November 15, 1935 in Kings County, New York, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Edelstein. At a young age she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she was raised. She met her husband, Irving, and eventually moved to Alexandria, Virginia. They were married for over 60 years before he passed away a little over two years ago.
Sylvia and Irving retired to Charlotte in 2005 where they became active members of Temple Israel.
The joy of Sylvia’s life was her family. She adored her husband. She was also a devoted mother and grandmother, as well as great grandmother to four great grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Scott Swartz of Ft. Myers, FL, Sharon Kay of Seattle, WA and Todd Swartz of Charlotte; seven beloved grandchildren, Eran Swartz, Jason Swartz, Alyssa Kay, Ellen Kay, Kyra Ganezer, Jacob Swartz, and Faith Swartz' as well as four great grandchildren; Palmer Anne, Ashlie Sara, Phoebe Ema, and Shiloh Esther.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Morty Edelstein.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 6th from the graveside at The Hebrew Cemetery, 1801 Statesville Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28206.
