Tamara W. Weaver Blattner, 78, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, June 2, 2025, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Until the end, she continued to live with grace, gratitude, love for her family and friends, and always with a smile on her face.
Tamara was born and raised in Harrisonburg, Virginia, to Charles O. and Martha W. Weaver. She cherished her childhood memories of growing up in the Shenandoah Valley, where she made important, lifelong friendships. She graduated from Harrisonburg High School before attending Peace College, followed by earning a Bachelor of Social Work degree from James Madison University.
Tamara lived a life dedicated to nurturing and supporting others. Whether that be for her beloved children, grandchildren, a friend in need, or the countless individuals she served as a Social Worker. Her compassionate spirit and generosity were recognized with many awards and accolades throughout her long career. Her greatest joy came from making a positive difference in the lives of children.
After retirement, Tamara settled in Charlotte, North Carolina. She loved the saying “I didn’t grow up in North Carolina, but I got here as fast as I could.” Tamara found joy in family events, travel, and lively weekly bridge games with her "Troonie" friends. Her most treasured role, however, was "Nana" to her 8 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Tamara was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Allan Joseph Blattner. She leaves behind countless friends and family including brother Charles Stewart Weaver (Jean), daughter Kristan Mackey Gehrman, daughter Jennifer Mackey Zelinski (Kenneth Corkren), son James Gallatin Mackey III, grandchildren Kimberly Elaine Franklin (Trent), Matthew Daniel Zelinski, Hailey Anne Zelinski, Kaitlyn Suzanne Gehrman, William Charles Gehrman, Jake Henry Gehrman, Caroline Lanier Mackey, William Connor Mackey, great-grandchildren Sarah Elaine Franklin, and Sutton Elizabeth Franklin.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 29th, 2025 at 1pm in the chapel of McEwen Funeral Services-Pineville located at 10500 Park Road in Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tamara's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
