Tom was born on May 17, 1942, to George and Marjorie LeCarpentier in Washington D.C. He attended Charlotte Catholic Schools and worked his entire career in sales. For many years, he worked for Trimfit Children’s clothing, moving on to finish his career in other retail areas.
Tom lived the majority of his life in Charlotte and enjoyed playing tennis with a wonderful group of friends. He had a very quick wit and will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor. He was fun to be around and easily talked to anyone he met. He truly enjoyed people. Tom had style. He loved looking sharp and was a meticulous, fashionable dresser, even recently checking clothing at the mall to see what was current.
Tom and his late wife, Mary Ann, loved the beach and particularly enjoyed dancing Carolina shag. Regular parties with their dear Panther football friends was a cherished time for them. They also treasured their neighborhood friends, who loved, helped, and supported them for many years. They were happiest surrounded by friends and family.
Tom was a dedicated husband, married 58 years to Mary Ann, and he was a devoted father to their wonderful daughter, Deanna. As Tom’s illness progressed, his relationship with Deanna deepened and meant the world to him. He frequently let her know how much he loved and appreciated her.
Tom is survived by his sister, Diane Smith,of Charlotte, and many nieces and nephews who considered him “their favorite.”
Tom’s friends and family will always remember him with a smile. His entertaining character brought everyone lots of fun and much laughter. He now is reunited with Mary Ann in the arms of Jesus. We will celebrate his life on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 at 1:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Home, Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, N.C. 28210.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Humane Society.
