

Tommy Carroll ("Tom") Ross, Age 73, passed away on September 12, 2015, after a long, hard-fought battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his wife, Donna Woodruff Ross; his son, Brian Thomas Ross; his daughter, Jennifer Pearsall (David); four grandsons, Brody Carroll Ross; and Woodruff, Sawyer and Sampson Pearsall; and one brother, Danny Ross and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Carroll and Mary Frances Worrell Ross; grandparents, Tom and Esther Ross, and William and Lula May Ross.
Tom graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1961. He served in the Air Force Tactical Air Command until he was honorably discharged at Seymour Johnson Air Force base in September1965. He enjoyed an extensive career in Sales until he retired in 2008.
He was very social, loved family, began creating lifelong friendships in grade school and continued making new friends everywhere he went. The support of family and cherished friends carried him through his bout with cancer. Tom was also extremely proud to be part of three generations of military servicemen. He loved to travel, was passionate about his UNC Tarheels, and enjoyed cruising in his 1961 "Little Red Corvette."
A Celebration of Tom's life will be held at McEwen Funeral Home, 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte, NC, with visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and the service beginning at 11:30 a.m.
The family expresses its sincere appreciation to Dr. John D. Powderly and his entire dedicated staff at Carolina BioOncology Institute in Huntersville, NC for their excellent care of Tom Ross over the past five years. In lieu of flowers, any donations in Tom's memory may be made to the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer ("SITCancer.org").
