Valerie Buck Cress

Valerie was born in Kinston, NC. She grew up in Rustburg, VA from an early age with her mother and step-father. She graduated from Rustburg High School in 1977. She moved back to North Carolina from Virginia where she met her husband, Jackie.

Her interests included reading, being a baseball mom, cooking and baking, and being a wonderful Nana. She loved her family and friends more than anything else.

Valerie is survived by her husband, Jackie C. Cress; son, Joey Cress (Caroline); her mother, Jeanne Coleman Buck Monroe; two brothers, Peter Buck (Cynthia) and Dwight Buck (Manena); nephews, George Wes and Daniel Buck; nieces, Melissa Buck and Tina Herrington; and one grandchild, Callie.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Washington Buck.

Her memorial service will be held 2:00p.m., Sunday, December 11 in the chapel at McEwen Funeral Service, Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Rd., Charlotte. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are sent to the Western Carolinas chapter of the Alzheimer's Association (link below).
