Violet Kathleen Thornburg Galloway, 92, of Charlotte, N.C. peacefully passed into the hands of God on December 29, 2016. Kathleen was born in Gastonia, NC on September 22, 1924 to Henry and Edith Thornburg.
Kathleen enjoyed sewing for her five daughters and also enjoyed doing volunteer work at the churches she attended, needlework, working puzzles and reading, especially after the girls were grown. She was a member of Assurance United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her brother Bryan Thornburg of Robinson, TX, sister Iris (Leo) Wiggins of Hartselle, AL; daughters Susan Pardue of Spring Hill, TN, Terry Haygood of Cary, NC, Sally Buck of Peachtree Corners, GA, Jill Southwell (Jerry) of Wauchula, FL and Jean (Randy) Connell of Largo, FL; eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2:00PM with visitation prior at 1:00PM, at the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials my be made to Assurance UMC, 9700 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078
