Virginia M Fisher

A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014, at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park.

She was born in Mecklenburg County on November 29, 1922 to the late Bert and Nellie Hines. She lived her entire life in Charlotte in the same community now known as NoDa.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harvey Coleman Fisher; brothers G.W. and Walter Hines. Sisters, Drucilla Murphy, Ionia Hancock and Ruby Land; and most recently her daughter-in-law, Alice Vickery Fisher.

Jenny is survived by her children: Harvey “Butch”, Andy (Wanda), Chris (Beverly), Brenda Ewadinger (Matt), Sandy Coulter (Raymond), Tammy Jones (Michael) and Michelle Fisher (Rex). Brothers: Vernon, Floyd and Garmon Hines. Children from other mothers: Cookie Norton, Donna Stegall-Deese, Stephanie Curlee and Mike Hines.

In addition, she leaves behind her grandchildren; Angela, Hayley, Brad and Erin Fisher; Scott Forbes; Rob and Jennifer Coulter; Randi Egel, Skyler Bailes; Shelby, Spencer, Logan and Landon Jones; and Scout Curlee and Ian Augello. Great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Ben and Olivia Forbes; Victoria and Addison Coulter; Brenna Egel; Drew Fisher and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jenny’s passion was her love of cooking, making her Southern recipes from scratch.

She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens and collecting dolls. She was a great orator of local and family history. She was our family hero, giving hugs, support and advice. Her contagious laughter will be greatly missed.

The family lovingly gives thanks to all of the great and kind caretakers at Novant Health Services and Peak Resources Rehab facility. A special thanks to Tom for assisting us and guiding the family through the process of saying our goodbyes with privacy and respect.
