

Miss Baker, age 50, of Charlotte, died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center - Main. Born August 23, 1964 in Charlotte, she was a daughter of the late Harry J. Baker and Ethel Adois McCarver Baker. Miss Baker graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1986. She retired as a physical education teacher of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools after 25 years of service. Miss Baker loved being around water, including boating, fishing and swimming. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid animal lover.
A reception for family and friends will be held 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 19th, at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service. The Service to Celebrate the Life of Wanda Kay Baker will immediately follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Joan Gallimore and Rob McCarver officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Memorial Park.
Survivors include her companion, Janet Martin; sisters, Gayle Spencer and Terry Philemon; nephews, Michael Andrew Philemon and Nick Philemon; and longtime family friends, Joan Gallimore and Jeannette Roth.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
