Wayburn "Waybe" Birmingham

Wayburn Hager Birmingham, age 92, of Charlotte passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013.

She was born October 2, 1920 in Davidson, North Carolina the daughter of the late Genevieve Christenbury Hager and Cleve Hager. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Ben Birmingham and sister, Marguerite Wagoner.

Mrs. Birmingham was a strong southern lady who loved her family and always put them first. She was a longtime member of St. John’s Baptist Church and active in the Unity Sunday School Class. She retired after a 33 year career from Employers Mutual Company as the Administrative Service Manager.

Surviving are her daughters, Lynn Birmingham of Nashville, TN and Bobbi Newland (Peter) of Fernandina Beach, FL; grandchildren, Missy Smith, Brian Liles, Scott Newland and Mark Newland (Ragan); great grandchild, Austin Smith; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Propst; and numerous other loving family.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday, August 30, 2013 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM Friday in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be held 12:00 PM Friday, August 30, 2013 at St. John’s Baptist Church, 300 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204.
