William Olen Berryhill Jr.

A lifelong Charlottean, Mr. Berryhill was born June 9, 1929, a son of the late William and Edith Stroupe Berryhill. Following graduation from Central High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1953, he married Patricia Cathcart.

Mr. Berryhill was employed with Genuine Parts Co. for seven years and then by SPX for twenty years. He then opened William Berryhill & Associates in 1990 and operated it until 2003. During the years he operated his own business, Mr. Berryhill and his wife, Patsy, bought a second home at Surfside Beach where they spent many happy times.

His family includes three children, Becky Berryhill of Surfside Beach, SC, Pattie Martin (Roger) of Mint Hill, and Tommy Berryhill of Fort Mill, SC; five grandchildren, Will Berryhill (Taylor), Alanna Berryhill, Michael Holifield, Daniel Holifield (Katie) and Justin Holifield; and two great grandchildren, Christian Holifield and Abigail Berryhill.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Patsy Berryhill; and a son, Timothy Olen Berryhill.

A service to celebrate Mr. Berryhill’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 1st at Avondale Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Berryhill’s family is very appreciative to the staff of Southminster, his pulmonologist, Dr. Walid Eltaraboulsi and his staff, and Hospice & Palliative Care – Charlotte Region for the devoted care he received during his illness.
