On Thursday, January 19th, 2017, William (Bill) Henry Kiser, Sr., 78, went to be with our Lord and Savior. He was born on January 23, 1938 in Cabarrus Country, North Carolina. The son of the late Carl and Ruby Kiser.
Bill was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. He met his wife, LaVerne, at Douglas Aircraft when they both were only twenty years old. They were married at Purcell United Methodist Church on July 25, 1958 and were happily married for over 58 years. At the age of 68, Bill retired from his position as the Operations Manager at Pneumafil Corporation, where he worked for most of his adult life. Bill was an active member for over fifty-eight years at Northside Baptist Church, and taught sixth grade boys Sunday school as well for more than ten years. Bill’s passion was fishing. He faithfully took his father, sons, and grandchildren fishing at every opportunity. This passion was passed down to the oldest sons and grandchildren who are still avid fishermen. After retiring, Bill and his wife, LaVerne, traveled regularly. Bill bravely fought ALS for six years. During this time he was never seen without a smile and never complained. He continued to put his family first. Bill was an active resident at Aldersgate Retirement Community over the past three years where he met many friends. He took up many hobbies such as basket weaving and ceramic painting, and occasionally snuck off to fish at the resident pond.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ruby Kiser, and his brother, Bob Kiser. He was survived by his wife, LaVerne Kiser; his three sons: Windy Kiser (Kristin) of Belmont; Scott Kiser (Beverly) of Charlotte; Jonathan Kiser (Jennifer) of Orange County, CA; his daughter, Pamela Rice (Blake), of Concord; his eleven grandchildren: Elizabeth Kiser, Lainy Kiser, Jake McGarity, Mallory McGarity, Shane Kiser (April), Paige Kiser, Trent Woodcock (Molly), Owen Woodcock, and Brecken Rice; and one great-granddaughter: Paislee Kiser.
