William Thomas Terry

William Thomas Terry, "Tom", of Charlotte passed away on June 10, 2022 after a courageous fight with esophageal cancer. Tom was born to Mildred and Bill Terry in Charlotte on July 8, 1942. Tom graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1960, attended Charlotte College and served in the N.C. National Guard for six years. Tom retired from the Design Engineering Department at Duke Energy in 2003, after 40 years of service.

To cherish his life and memories of their 60 year love story, Tom leaves behind his adoring wife of almost 58 years, Mary Ann Dickie Terry; his loving son Wes Terry and wife Beige; sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Rowe Hass; brother-in-law Mel Dickie; nieces Amy Kisiah (Kip) and Ellen Mennitt (Mark); great nieces Kalyn Elwood (Brad), and Demi Mennitt; great nephew Sam Mennitt; step granddaughters Lauren and Kailey Tapp.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to their friends who have sustained them for the last nine months with their many acts of kindness and for their thoughts and prayers throughout Tom's difficult journey. The family is also appreciative of the tender care provided by Dr. Kristopher Hansen and the staff at Levine Cancer Institute.

Tom's immediate family will surround him with love at a private service to honor his life.
