Willie Billie Cuthbertson Huntley Shannon

A native of Mecklenburg County, Mrs. Shannon was born to the late Oscar Huntley and Annie Threatt Huntley on October 2, 1921. She was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Epworth Sunday School Class, Music Makers, Group Rebecca Ladies Circle and the Golden Years Club. Mrs. Shannon retired from Kroehler Furniture in Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Paul Grady Cuthbertson, Sr. and by her second husband, Elbert “Al” Lee Shannon. Mrs. Shannon is also preceded in death by brothers, Ben F. Huntley, Sr., J. Thomas Huntley; sisters, Bert Watson, Leola Beasley and step-daughter, Sandra Thornton.

Mrs. Shannon is survived by her children; Lana Freeman , Paul Cuthbertson, Jr. (Joy) both of Charlotte; grandchildren, Liesl West (Mike) and their children Taylor and Avery of Charlotte, Joshua Cuthbertson (Aileen) and their children Hannah, Maggie and Reese of Kennesaw, GA; step-son, John Lee Shannon (Margie) of Hagerstown, MD; step-son-in-law, Don Thornton of Indian Trail; step-granddaughters, Kim Schmidt (Clif) and her daughter Megan Arzberger, Stephanie Chawla (Sam) and their children Chloe and Ryder of Greenwich, CT.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 12 at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 6401 Hickory Grove Road, Charlotte with Pastor Arnie Corriher and Pastor Wallace Beasley officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank the 6th floor staff at CMC University and the staff at Levine & Dickson Hospice House for the loving care shown to Mrs. Shannon during her illness.
