Wm. Henry Horton

Wm. Henry Horton was born on February 15, 1936 in Pleasure Ridge Park, Kentucky. He was the son of Rev. Richard L. Horton, a Nazarene pastor, and Jerusha Walker Horton. He was one of six children that traveled around Kentucky as a musical family who performed in many small communities as well as district and local church functions. His father often held revivals where the family provided the music for the week.

Henry graduated from Wurtland High School in Kentucky and served in the U.S. Army. When he returned from Korea and at the end of his army service he felt a call to the pastoral ministry

and enrolled in Trevecca Nazarene University. There he met his future wife, Judy, and they were married in June of 1963. Upon leaving Trevecca he pastored churches in Tennessee, Virginia, Texas and Florida.

In 2019 Henry and Judy became members of Pineville Church of the Nazarene in Charlotte, NC. They developed close friends in the primetimers group. They also enjoyed the friendships of their neighbors.

He and Judy have five sons with five wonderful daughters-in-law, eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McEwen Funeral Service, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, North Carolina on Monday, February15, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will start at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be private at Salisbury National Park in Salisbury, North Carolina.
