

He was preceded in death by his lovely daughters, Debby Lu Hargett and Pamela M. Hargett. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betsy Harris Hargett and their son, Zeb E. Hargett, III and his wife Trina; grandchildren, Jennifer Ashley, Amanda Roselyn, and Christopher Adrian Hargett. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Mayfield and husband Tom, Gypsy Satterwhite and husband Dan, and Tina Aldret.
He received a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering in 1954 from N.C. State College. After graduation, he served in the Army for two years and was discharged in 1955 as First Lieutenant.
An ardent reader, a true history buff, a collector of scale model trains, which he truly enjoyed running, were some of his hobbies. He was a pilot for many years, and flying was one of his real passions.
When he returned in 1955 from the Army, he continued working in the family business, Charlotte Florist Supply Co., which he and his wife Betsy later owned and operated until they retired in 1993.
A service for friends and family will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in the Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Receiving will follow the service. Private interment will take place in the Mausoleum.
