Anne Snead Whitcomb

Anne Snead Whitcomb, 88, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Anne was born in Petersburg, Virginia on February 4, 1928 to the late Dr. Henry Martin Snead and Jane Wall Snead. Anne was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee Peck Whitcomb, Sr., her sister, Charlotte Snead Burwell, and her brother, Henry Martin Snead. Anne graduated from Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia and she and her husband, Peck, were charter members of Meadows Presbyterian Church where she had served as an Elder. Anne loved playing bridge She is survived by a daughter, Helen “Bunny” Whitcomb Coates and her husband, Wayne of Winston-Salem, NC and a son, Lee Peck Whitcomb, Jr., and his partner Lisa M. Hale of Marshall, VA; five grandchildren, Michael Sean Whitcomb and his wife Bree; Heather Whitcomb Powell and her husband, Allen; Lee Peck Whitcomb III and his wife, Lisa; Jeffrey Charles Coates and Spencer Peck Coates; and six great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the loving and caring staffs of the Christopher Center at Our Lady of Peace and Hospice of the Piedmont. A Memorial Service will be held at Meadows Presbyterian Church, 2200 Angus Road, on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Meadows Presbyterian Church, 2200 Angus Road, Charlottesville, VA 22901 or Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
