Betty was born on April 24, 1955, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to the late Lewis Manuel Mickey and Betty Lee Battle.
Everyone loved Betty! She was one of the happiest people you could ever meet. She was always smiling, and could make you laugh. Betty loved life, and she encouraged others to live their lives to the fullest as well. She was skilled at crochet, and made beautiful afghans, blankets, and booties as well. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two sisters, Lessie Lee Mickey and Arline Mickey.
Betty is survived by two sisters, Pauline Burruss of Brooklyn, Maryland; and Glenis Louise Jackson, of Charlottesville, Virginia; seven nephews, Lester Nathaniel Jackson, Jr., Steve Ashley Mickey, Thomas Johnson, Jr., Thomas Eugene Mickey, Javier Damar Fortune, Bricen Kent Mwanawanabene, and Zion Lewis Akwasi Jackson; four nieces, Kerlie Louise Gage, Shirley Jackson, Pheajia Denise Johnson-Wood, and Zara Louise Afua Jackson; a host of cousins, far too many to name; and many, many dear friends.
The immediate family will privately reflect on Betty's life, and what she meant to them.
