Doris Marie Snow, 78, of Earlysville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 12th at the University of Virginia Hospital with her daughter and sister by her side. She was born on December 16th, 1939, in Albemarle County to the late William and Reva Shifflett. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Edward Shifflett. Doris was known in her early years as a seamstress and tax preparer for family as well as many friends in the community. She worked for several employers, Comdial and later retired from Avionics after eighteen years of service, where she worked as a Calibration technician. She leaves behind her husband, Ralph Snow, of 64 years, her daughter Sandy Newman of Allen, TX, her sons Michael Snow and his wife Mary of Boonesville, Va. and Doug Snow and companion Donna Lindemann of Earlysville, VA. She was loved and known as “grandma” to her nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings, Wilmer Shifflett of Earlysville, Kenneth Shifflett of Stanardsville, Leroy Shifflett and wife Freda of Free Union, her sister Janie Hicks and husband Gary of Dyke and Donnie Shifflett and wife Barbara, and honorary brother Walter Shifflett of Free Union, as well as many nieces and nephews. Doris carried a beautiful smile, laugh and love for her family and friends. She was an avid collector and some of her favorite pass times were camping at Bud Lea campground, going to yard sales, watching Nascar races, along with spending many years researching the family genealogy. Doris was deeply dedicated to her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Pink was her favorite color and you are welcomed to wear pink in honor of Doris in celebrating her life. Family night will be held at Teague Funeral home on Tuesday, May 15th from 6pm – 8pm. The funeral service will be held at Teague on Wednesday, May 16th at 1pm, with graveside service to take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Dyke, Va. The service will be officiated by C.C. Kurtz of Dyke, VA. The family invites all to join them at the Dyke Firehouse after the service for a time of fellowship and celebration of Doris’ life.
