Ellen Hamlett Stewart

Ellen Elizabeth Hamlett Stewart, died peacefully on July 28, 2022 in Charlottesville, VA at the age of 88. Born in Prince Edward, Va. to the late Curtis A. Hamlett and Pearl Weaver Hamlett. Preceding her in Death were her husband Vaughan “Buddy” Stewart Jr., her Daughter Faith “Penny” Collings, daughter, brothers Thomas Wilson (Bill) Hamlett and Milton Curtis (Pete) Hamlett.

Ellen graduated from Longwood College with a teaching degree and was a successful elementary school teacher. She enjoyed gardening, the theater, tracing her family roots and genealogy with her cousins, crossword puzzles, playing weekend scrabble for days with her friends and world travels with her beloved husband Buddy.

Ellen is survived by her Son, C. Stuart Willis and his wife Linda of Leesburg, VA; Daughter Pamela W Jenkins and her husband Samuel; Step Children James Stewart and his wife Marie and Ann Marie Stewart. Grandchildren Daniel White, Ashley Ellen LaFratte, Kyle Willis, Haley Willis, Lacey Willis and Samantha Collings; Great-Grandsons Brenden M White, Shawn A White, Jordan X White and Steven Kasen White.

A private, family garden side service will be held to plant her living tree.
