Em,

I still miss you every day. There’s so much I wish I could talk to you about and confide in you for your advice. I remember always being able to come in your room and talk to you for hours. I wish you could be here with me and see how good I’ve done. I hope I’ve made you proud by getting my RN. I miss you more than ever. I love you.

I still think of her often. She was such a shining light in her corner penthouse at RoseWood Village and what a sense of humor!

Em, I miss you so much and wish you were here. I miss seeing your sweet smile every morning at Rosewood when I would come in just specifically to see you and see if you needed anything.  The big news I wish I could’ve told you was that I got into nursing school. You were the reason I wanted to be a nurse and you always push me to do my best and I wish you were here to see all of my accomplishments. I miss you more than ever I wish my best friend was still here with me but I know you’re looking down on me now. I love you so much Em. 

It was a pleasure to have known Em.  
My deepest sympathy to her family and loved ones.

Miss Em, what an incredible women! It has been one of the great privileges in my life to have known you. You brought light wherever you went! You are such a role model to me as a wife, mother and nurse. I love you forever! 

Em was a dear friend through Compassionate Friends and I love seeing her and spending time together.  She always took such care to express interest and concern for others and over the years I looked forward to seeing her warm smile and getting a hug.  Since Covid 19, we had not seen each other and I am saddened to hear of her passing but I can't help imagining her seeing her son on the other side.  Joyful reunion.  Em, until I see you there.....

My heart is with you all as you pay tribute to Aunt Em and prepare for a final goodbye.  The Keithley and Quakenbush families had a close bond, sharing many good times. With Em’s passing we close out a generation but we have a wonderful, loving example to cherish and to follow.

you made me smile on 5 Central whenever I saw you. 
You made me laugh when I heard your stories. 
Your pranks were something.
You were patient  and gracious in your work.  
I remember your 90th birthday party. 
I remember your gorgeous hair.


I will miss Em and her energy. I appreciate the love she shared, and the dedication she had for her nursing profession and her family.  I loved hearing about the trips she took with family members.
Her memory will always be with me.

Dear family and friends of Em,

Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of Em.  She was one of the kindest and most loving people I knew.  She cherished her family and was devoted to her nursing career at the University of Virginia Medical Center.  At home she was a gracious and welcoming hostess and had a gift for connecting with everyone she met.

One of my favorite memories was seeing Em at the celebration of her 90th birthday only a few years ago.  It was truly an acknowledgement of the life of a very special lady, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

I will cherish my memories of this gracious, lovely lady who I met at the beginning of my UVA nursing career back in the 70's.  She always had a spark in her eyes with compassion and respect for all.
Her love/support of her family was evident in her stories of her life.

Mrs. Em Keithley was a shining light to so many of us on the 5th floor of UVA Hospital.  As she had her last years of nursing with us not too many years ago, her stamina and grit never failed to impress me.  What a life well-lived!  I know how much she loved nursing, but being a mother was her greatest love of all.  Sweet lady.  I will always remember her with much fondness.  My sympathy to the family at this time of loss. 

Mrs. Keithley was a beautiful lady and a lovely neighbor.  Her smile and cheerful demeanor left a lasting impression on many of us!  The Brezinski family sends heartfelt condolences.

Mrs. Keithly was one of the kindest, most positive persons I've ever known.
She set a noble example for all with her service to mankind through her nursing and her continued interest in all she came in contact with.
My sincere sympathy to the family. She will forever be in my memories.

I met Ms. Em in 2014 at a T.O.P.S. meeting.  She was someone to look up to and admire.  Condolences to her family and friends. 🙏

Em was such a sweet, upbeat lady and always happy to see you.

Miss Em was a dear, sweet soul with a firey spirit.  We will miss her smiling face and laughter at RoseWood Village - Hollymead.  
I hope they have pumpkin bread in heaven!

Em was everything to me, my best friend. She is the reason I decided to continue in the healthcare field and the reason I came back to work at Rosewood Village after my time in the military. Em always kept me positive and going during my time in BCT, I remember writing her almost every day and when I came home she was the first person I went to see. She was such a loving, kind, generous and over all amazing woman.  I hope one day I’m half the woman she was. My kids and husband loved her more than anything as we called her our adopted grammy. We will miss every moment we shared with her in the last few years. We love you so much Em and we cannot wait to see you again in heaven.
