

Fred was born February 27, 1967 to the late Frederick Sidney Riley Sr., and Rosa Lee Tate Riley.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Roger Tate, sisters Vickie (Tate) Graves and Gloria Jean (Riley) Cash, and a nephew William E. Graves Jr.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 18 years Anita Furr Riley, a brother Dennis Tate, and a sister Donna Tate (Gary) Bennett.
Fred is also survived by his children Ashley (Chris) Brinegar, Crystal (Mark) Lamonds, and James Tyler Furr.
He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Melody and Jaxson Lamonds, Coraline and Madeline Woodie, and Anna and Owen Furr.
He has several special nephews and nieces: Kevin (Melissa) Tate, Candace (Tate) Goolsby, Timothy Tate, Lisa Bennett, Cindy (Bennett) (Robert) Morris, James (Karen) Bennett Jr., and Jennifer Perkins.
Fred also had a special cousin who always had a way of making Fred laugh thank you Retha Cook Mabe. You really made a difference in Fred’s life.
Fred was a heavy equipment operator for Luck Stone for 26 years. He enjoyed hunting, being with his family, taking day trips to the mountains, going to the beach and traveling.
Fred was also very proud of the fact that he accepted Jesus Christ to be his Lord and Savior, and was baptized in the UVA hospital by Roger Browning, while on one of Fred’s many stays in the hospital.
Also, a special friend on the other side of the phone, Darlene Cummings, who also encouraged Fred to “hang in there”. Fred had several special doctors and nurses that made the last few weeks and days bearable, thank you Sherry and Amber. And a very special thank you to Dr. Nicholas Intagliata. Fred knew he was in good hands with Dr. Nick.
A visitation will be held at Teague Funeral Service on February 13, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service is scheduled for February 14, 2026, at 1:00 pm, also at Teague Funeral Service. A committal service will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens on the same day.
