Hollis Edward Hall, of Troy, passed away on January 30, 2026, at the age of 66. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. Hall, Jr. ("Bo") and Joyce Hall, and by his brother - in-law Terry Fitz, and brother-in-law Larry Wayne Hensley.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cathe; his children, Angela Hall of Palmyra, Robert Hall and his wife Amy of Palmyra, and Richard Hall of Troy; and his five grandchildren, Christopher Hall, Little Ricky Hall, Jr., Bailey Hall, Carmen Hall, and Crystal Lynch.
He is also survived by his three sisters, Neanne Fitz; Dianne Vickers and her husband Chad; and Debbie Bush and her husband Steve, who was also a close friend. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Hollis shared a special bond with his nephew, Hillary Fitz, his niece, Mandy Cason Easton, and his close friend, Roger Houchens.
Hollis was a carpenter by trade, beginning his career in construction at the age of 16 and following in his father’s footsteps and learning from the best, before eventually taking over the company to establish Hollis Hall & Sons Construction. Over the years, many customers entrusted Hollis with their home projects time and time again, a testament to his skill and dedication.
When he wasn’t swinging a hammer, Hollis found his greatest joy in the simple moments. He loved fishing, especially trips to the Bay in Cape Charles, Virginia and camping by the beach, but nothing compared to time spent with his family.
Hollis was the heart of family gatherings, always ready with a story and a laugh. Many evenings were spent on the carport, joined by family and friends who stopped by for a cold beer, classic rock music, good conversation, and plenty of laughter. Moments that will be forever cherished.
Hollis had a love for classic cars, especially Chevrolets, and took pride in teaching Ricky and Robbie how to work on them. Christmas too, held a special place in his heart, from shopping with Angie, to stuffing the stockings and cooking a big Christmas breakfast, creating memories his family treasures.
Nothing brought him more joy than his grandchildren, whom he considered his greatest blessing. He shared all of this with his wife, Cathe, whose partnership and love were central to the life he built. His love for his wife, family, and grandbabies was unconditional.
The family would like to thank everyone who has supported Hollis Hall & Sons Construction over the years: customers Marcia Hickory, Kateri DuBay, Wade Tremblay, Richard Tremblay, Maury and Noelle Davis, Karen Rheuban, Ruth Schulder, Mike Schram, Hock, Phill Potter, Joyce Polifka, Anne & Al Booth, Allen Construction, and many others. Hollis's legacy was
proudly carried on by his brother-in-law, Chad Vickers, who gave 20+ years of dedication to the company. Chad was his best friend and truly a brother in every way but name. The family is deeply grateful for Chad’s unwavering commitment to the company during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank Gary Houchens and Rodney Taylor for their help over the past year.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff at UVA Medical Center, MICU 4 West, for their care and compassion.
When he was first diagnosed with AML, Hollis didn't worry about himself. He worried about his family and how his illness would affect them. His last words to Cathe were a request to tell his children and grandchildren that he loved them. Throughout his life, until the end, his thoughts were about his family before himself.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Emily Couric Cancer Center.
The family will receive friends and family for visitation at Teague Funeral Home on February 7th, 2026, from 2-5pm.
