April 19, 1937 - March 21, 2026
Jacqueline A. O’Hara “Jackie”, 88, of Charlottesville, VA, formerly of Corinth, NY, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026. She was the loving wife of William D. O’Hara Jr. “Will” for over 60 years.
Born in Ballston Spa, NY on April 19, 1937, she was the daughter of the late John Springer and Alice (Wilson) Springer. After graduating from Nott Terrace HS and Albany Nursing School, she married her high school sweetheart, Will and began a life together building a family and living in many wonderful places.
During their marriage, in addition to using her nursing training with jobs in hospitals and schools, Jackie supported Will in his long, successful military career. Thanks to her unwavering support, the family successfully managed 17 moves across 6 states and Germany. She gave birth to Kellie while living in Florida with her dad and 1 ½ -year-old son Bill, as Will was serving his first of three tours in Vietnam. While they were stationed in Virginia, Jackie gave birth to their youngest child, Dan, and continued to hold down the fort while her beloved husband, Will served in his final tour in Vietnam. Jackie dedicated much of her time supporting other army spouses through the Officer’s Wives Club during Will’s entire career.
After nearly 30 years in the Army, Jackie and Will began to enjoy their well earned retirement years. She and Will were the ultimate “snowbirds,” traveling between Corinth, NY and St. Augustine, FL for many years, always enjoying visits with family and friends along the way.
She was devoted to her family and loved nothing more than hosting her children and grandchildren at their beloved Camp on the Great Sacandaga Lake in upstate NY. She took great pride in sharing her love of sunsets, bird watching, frog catching and walks around the neighborhood. Jackie and Will cherished being part of the Overlook Beach Club community at the lake and participated in the many fun community events held throughout the summer.
She will be deeply missed by her children and their spouses, Bill (Cathy) O’Hara III, Kellie (Joe) Schachle, and Dan (Monica) O’Hara; and her 13 grandchildren, Brendan (Hannah), Nolan, and Evan Schachle, Jordan (Kelsey), Jackie, Jonathan, Jessie (Jadon) Wilt, Jenni, Joelle, and Jamie O’Hara, and Erin, Keelin, and William O’Hara IV, and great granddaughter, River Ann Schachle, who got to meet her Great Grammy this past Thanksgiving.
There will be a private family burial service and she will join her beloved Will when laid to rest in the Culpeper National Cemetery. A celebration of life for family and friends will be planned for a later date.
