Janet was born on May 16, 1962, in Arlington, Virginia, where she was also raised.
Janet dedicated her professional life to nursing, earning her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of New Hampshire in 2000. She went on to work for many years as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, holding certification with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Above all else, Janet loved her children deeply and devoted herself to creating a full and meaningful life for them. She took great pride in being a mother and stepmother, offering steady love, encouragement, and a sense of home that her family will carry with them always.
Janet was a true creator of warmth and beauty, expressed most fully through her love of cooking, entertaining, and the life she built around her family. She found deep joy in preparing meals that gathered people around her table, and her home reflected her exquisite taste in decorating and her natural ability to make any space feel welcoming and thoughtfully composed. Family was always at the center of these moments, from cherished Christmases spent together in Virginia to summer visits to the beach filled with laughter, shared meals, and unhurried time together. These traditions and memories remain a lasting reflection of the love she so generously gave.
Janet was preceded in death by her mother, Rachel Collins Bailey, and her son, Joseph Miller.
She is survived by her father, Reynard Bailey; her sisters, Angela Bailey Salazar Raines (Geoffrey Raines) and Vickie Bailey Carson (Junior Carson); her daughter, Jennifer Miller Wobrock (Ryan Wobrock); her stepdaughter, Kelley Miller Qesati (Ilir Qesati); and her beloved grandchildren, Bennett Miller Wobrock, Graham Bailey Wobrock, Ainsleigh Miller, Oliver Bancroft Miller, and Henry Reynard Miller, who brought her immense pride and joy.
She is also survived by her nephews, Nicholas Bailey Salazar and Michael Collins Salazar; her nieces, Amanda Carson Fowler and Emily Carson Jones; and by several cherished individuals whom she held close to her heart: Ashley Friel, Bank Miller, Lisa Miller, Michael Miller, and John Crafaik.
Janet will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her generosity, her eye for beauty, and the love she expressed through the life she built and the meals she shared. Her memory lives on in the traditions she created and the people who loved her.
