

John William Taylor III, 72, of Ruckersville, died Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at his home. Born November 4, 1942 in Charlottesville, he was the son of the late John William Taylor II and Louise Pugh Taylor. In addition, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth. John served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1968. John retired as the Warranty Administrator for Battlefield Ford and was also a long-time employee of Safeway Stores. He also was a life member of the Ruckersville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a lifetime member of Covesville Baptist Church. One of his favorite pastimes was watching the Washington Redskins and the Washington Nationals. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara J. Taylor; two daughters, Kristina Shifflett and Lisa Madison; four grandchildren, Burgundy Draper, Preston Shifflett, Dylan Madison and Gracie Madison; one brother, Jerry Taylor; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Covesville Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Campbell and Reverend Terry Jewell officiating . Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Teague Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
