Julia Francis Curry, 95, passed away peacefully in Charlottesville, Virginia, on February 2, 2026. Born in Bellmore, New York, on March 12, 1930, she was the daughter of Julius and Mary Krasnis.
Julia grew up in Bellmore, where she met the love of her life, Thomas Curry. They married and built a family together, raising their three children—Julie, Michael, and Margaret—first in Bellmore, then Seaford, New York, and finally East Quogue, New York. When Tom retired, Julia and Tom moved to Wilmington, North Carolina for a time before ultimately relocating to Palmyra, Virginia. Tom passed away in 2001, and Julia carried his memory with her for the rest of her life. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary and Florence.
Before marrying Tom, Julia completed secretarial school and worked in New York City. After moving to East Quogue, and while raising her children, she returned to the workforce and spent many years with the Coast Guard in Hampton Bays, within sight of the Ponquogue Bridge crossing Shinnecock Bay—one of her and Tom’s favorite fishing spots.
Faith was a steady anchor throughout her life. She was active in the Catholic Church wherever she lived, most recently at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Palmyra, Virginia. Julia loved gardening, her family, her church community, and every dog that ever curled up at her feet. She was known for her practicality, her steadiness, her generosity, and her ability to “take care of business.” Her home was always spotless, organized, and welcoming—a reflection of the pride she took in caring for the people and spaces she loved.
Julia leaves behind a large and devoted family. Her daughters Julie Curry and Margaret Miller, and son Michael Curry with wife Debra Ray Curry. She also leaves her grandchildren: the late Molly Bloom McAdams; Rebecca McAdams with great-grandchildren Annie and Ellie; George Miller with wife Chelsea and great-grandchildren Madeline, Henry, and Sophia; Adam Miller; and Tyler Miller with wife Nora and great-grandchildren Theodore and Cormac. She cherished each of them deeply and followed their lives with pride and affection.
