

Kyle Wesley Anderson, 20, while surrounded by his family and close friends, became pain free on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Kyle was born February 8, 1996. He had a beautiful soul and a contagious smile with an endless supply of hugs. He had a big heart and put others’ needs before his own. He had a love for sports and found joy in his two dogs Hershey and Wilfred, date nights with his girlfriend, and bonfires with the boys. His dream was to attend Virginia Tech, where he was in his second year. Kyle had a great attitude and work ethic and was very active in the Louisa and Blacksburg communities. At LCHS, he became captain of the Varsity football team, an editor for the yearbook, the Senior Class President, and a mentor for fourth graders. During his short time at Virginia Tech, he was elected President of the Residence Hall Federation (RHF), co-chairing the conference Virginia Association of College and Universities Residence Halls (VACURH), became a member of the Commission of Student Affairs (CSA), and was sworn into the Order of the Gavel, a group created for the top leaders on campus. He is survived by his parents Glen and Darla Anderson; his sister Morgan Anderson; his grandparents Nancy Via, Everette Anderson, and Cathy and Bill Keck; his aunts Nancy Uhland and Danielle Staton; his special aunt Diane Hufner; his uncles David Uhland, Daniel “Bob” Via, Jeff Shifflett, and Keith Anderson; his cousins Jasmine Palmer, Logan and Shane Shifflett, Kylie and Kiera Via, James and Paula Hufner, and Tim Davis; his best friends James Lively, Drew Goad, and Timmy Harris; and his girlfriend Erica Wood. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents Eula and Wesley Anderson and Mary Lasley; his grandfather Dan Via; his uncle Dabney Staton; and his aunt Sheri Shifflett. The family would like to give special thanks to the “the Man, the Myth, the Legend,” Dr. Michael Douvas and his nurse Priscilla Sprague; Amelia Hodson and the nurses at the Emily Couric Cancer Center; and the nurses and PCA’s on 8 West, Stem Cell Transplant unit, and the MICU. A memorial service to celebrate Kyle’s life will be held at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville, VA on Saturday, May 28 at 11am. Family visitation will begin at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kyle’s name to the Emily Couric Cancer Center.
