Linda was born in the USA on April 6, 1951. She was raised in Guatemala where she made lasting school friends and built a life with her husband Jose Luis Lemus and their three children Jose Luis, Juan Pablo and Christina. Linda was always a joyful and hardworking woman, who had a great zest for life and was constantly working on her personal growth.
In 2004 Linda returned to the United States where she lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan with her beloved brother David, their mother, Alma and daughter Christina. Her life in the United States allowed her to truly grow in to the woman she always wanted to be. She was never afraid of change, and her courage in reinventing her life in adulthood was an inspiration to many around her. She achieved her master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Michigan while working a fulltime job and taking care of her family. This was a great source of pride for her, and expanded her world in ways that profoundly changed her. Her spirit was always one of generosity and helping others.
In 2017 Linda had the opportunity of pursuing her career as an interpreter at the University of Virginia Health System, where she continued her personal growth, and more importantly found a second family. These years in Charlottesville fulfilled her in many ways, including achieving professional fulfillment, fostering deep friendships with whom she enjoyed many social activities, and living close to her daughter, son in law and grandson.
Linda is preceded in death by her mother Alma and brothers John and David Leonard. She is survived by her children Jose Luis, Juan Pablo and Christina with their families including 8 beloved grandchildren.
Linda will be remembered for her generosity of spirit, kindness towards others, willingness to lend a helping hand, selflessness, enthusiasm, joy for life and boundless love.
