Hollis was born on April 6, 1934, in Charlottesville, VA, to the late Margaret and Alexander Roche. He worked for UVA for almost 35 years, and retired in 1988 from the Bursar's Office. Hollis was an avid fox hunter, and loved his fox hounds. He enjoyed bluegrass music, as well as exploring the outdoors until his health declined.
In addition to his parents, Hollis was preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Tomlin.
Hollis is survived by his wife, Irene Roche; son Tony Roche and wife Tricia; daughter Tracy Roche; special nephew Jimmy and his wife, Sue, and their son Mitch; aunts, Arlene Powers and Ruth Paradise; and his special companions, Brutus and Bella.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018, at 11am, at Bingham's United Methodist Church in Dyke, VA. A graveside service will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville.
