

He was born on May 20, 1937 to the late Salem Musa and Nimah Essis Eways. He was the beloved husband of Anne Marie Eways. They met on the playground at 14 and 15 years old. Their courtship began soon after, and they were married five years later. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on August 10, 2014.
Munir studied finance and accounting at the University of Pennsylvania. He began his career as an auditor at Dana Corporation in Pennsylvania, and then in Toledo, Ohio. He then became the Director of Systems and Data Processing at Abex Corporation in Winchester, Virginia. In 1968, he and his family relocated to Charlottesville to join the family business, Salem M. Eways, Inc.
Munir was a community leader. After retirement in 2008, he became an ordained minister. He served two terms as Chairman of Deacons at First Baptist Church which included many years as a deacon. His church involvement also included teaching Sunday school for many years. Munir served as the Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Festival of ’98 with Franklin Graham in Central, VA, which took place in Charlottesville. Munir served as a campground minister at Greys Point Campground in Topping, Va. He was also a member of Kiwanis International.
Munir delivered his final sermon on Easter Sunday at The Independence where he and his wife reside.
In addition to his wife, Munir is survived by his four daughters, Kathleen Eways Woodson and her husband, Pax, Karen Anne Eways, Kay Elizabeth Eways Haas and her husband, Jeff, and Kristina Eways Lowrie and her husband, Hobie; twelve grandchildren, Lindsay Thomas and her husband, Charlie, Morganne Woodson, McAnalle Neal, Lofton Neal, Briggs Neal, and Demeter Neal Frisch and her, husband Nate, Tyler Haas, Erin Haas, and Ally Haas, Hadley Lowrie, and Mason Lowrie; and one great-grandson, Caleb Thomas. He is also survived by his brothers, Frank Eways and Terry Eways, their wives, and his many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.mm Saturday, April 11, 2015, at First Baptist Church. Interment was held previously at Holly Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that a donation in Munir’s memory be made to Love, Inc., 198 Spotnap Road, Suite 1, Charlottesville, VA 22911 or First Baptist Church’s PACEM Ministry.
The family will greet friends and family after the service in the Church Fellowship hall. If you are unable to attend the service and would rather pay your respects at Teague Funeral Home on Friday you are welcome to do so, however the family will not be there.
