Rizalina Ago Turla, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was born on December 30, 1938, in the Philippines, the cherished daughter of Pastor and Lourdes Yu Ago.
Rizalina lived a life defined by courage, devotion, and generosity. Trained as an anesthesiologist, she dedicated her career to the care and well-being of others. Beyond her profession, her greatest legacy was her family. She and her late husband, Sisenando Turla, built a life rooted in faith, love, and perseverance.
As the first immigrant in her family, Rizalina blazed a path that forever changed the course of future generations. With determination and selflessness, she sponsored her and her husband’s siblings from the Philippines, ensuring that the opportunities she created could be shared with those she loved most. Her quiet strength and boundless heart continue to echo in the lives of all who were touched by her generosity.
She is survived by her children, Ferdinand Turla, Pamela Turla Rule and her husband Robby, and Theresa Turla and her husband Patrick Dubendorfer. She was a proud grandmother to Carlos and Atticus Wilklow and Atticus’ wife Rachel, and Remedy and Brazil Rule. She was the proud great grandmother to Atlas and Arya Wilklow.
She is also survived by her siblings Roberto (Roberta), Josephine (Nestor), Abraham (Liza), Daniel (Elizabeth), Lolita (Ernesto-deceased), and Arturo (Nerissa-deceased), and sister in law Malu, and the multitudes of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pastor and Lourdes Yu Ago, and her husband, Sisenando, and brother, Pastor Jr.
Rizalina will be remembered for her faith as a devoted Catholic, her love of shopping and simple pleasures. Her life was a beautiful example of resilience, generosity, and enduring love.
There will be a private graveside service, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
