She enjoyed her childhood, spending many summers camping and fishing with her family. After graduating from UCSD, she went into public relations, moving to the Washington DC area. She owned her own firm, RAR Communications, for several years before signing on to be the Public Information Officer for the Town of Herndon (VA). After retiring, she spent her time advocating for the causes she believed in—fighting domestic violence, elder financial abuse and hunger; improving child and animal welfare. She also remained active in Virginia politics throughout her adult life.
She was a great lover of life, as she enjoyed spending time with friends and family and loved to laugh. Other things she enjoyed were traveling (especially to the beach), live theater and eating out. She also loved her reality shows, especially the “Real Housewives.” She loved going to the Super Bowl the past several years, especially when she got to be in SoFi Stadium to watch her Los Angeles Rams win the Lombardi Trophy last February.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother. She is survived by her beloved “fluff muffins” Bijou and Huntington, as well as a cadre of dear friends on both coasts.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Monticello Memory Gardens, 670 Thomas Jefferson Parkway Charlottesville, VA 22902 with Pastor Lindsay Ellis presiding.
