Born January 30, 1948, to the late Francis Everette Mawyer and Ballard Fulton Mawyer. He is preceded in death by both of his parents; his son, Roger Lee Mawyer Jr; his brother William Mawyer; his brother Ballard Mawyer and a niece Patsy Sipe.
Roger is survived by his daughter, Tasha Creasy and her husband Mark Creasy (Roger took a true liking and loved all Mark’s shoes and also didn’t hesitate to tell him every day that he smelled so good with all his cologne on); also survived by his sister Lottie Harris; his 3 grandsons, Bryan Brookins, Christopher Brookins (his fiancée, Dawn) and Kevin Marrs; his 2 great-grandkids, Adrian Brookins (12) and Raelee Brookins (11); a number of nieces and nephews and a special sister-n-law, Jenny Mawyer.
Roger worked in his younger years driving for J.B. Hunt, Tom Jones Wrecker Service, and MCL Corporation. After a back injury he worked as a service attendant at Ivy Exxon for several years. He loved doing yard work and building things (decks, storage sheds, etc). He was an amazing pool player and enjoyed shooting pool. Most importantly, he loved and spoke of his card games and late nights with both of his brothers.
A special Thank you to UVA Medical Center, UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center, Monroe Health and Rehabilitation (Roger adored his Nurse Nicole), and Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation (Nurse “Tee”) for all their care, compassion, and understanding as his health declined.
Private funeral services will be held.
