

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Kenneth Haverstrom, and her cherished great-grandson, Cooper.
Together, Ruth and Ken built a life centered on love and family, raising four children: Karen (Jeremy) of Norwalk, Connecticut; Richard (Lois) of Earlysville, Virginia; Christopher (Lisa) of Burlington, North Carolina; and Robert (Diane) of Spring, Texas. Ruth was a devoted grandmother to ten grandchildren: Christian (Rachel), Kevin (Jade), Luke (Olivia), Austin, Jennifer, Troy, Sam, Ryan, Angelina and Mia; and to three great grandchildren: Raegan, Kennedy, and Annalise. She is also survived by her brother, Alvin “Bob” (Lillian) Martin of Rhode Island and her nephew William (Patricia) of Rehoboth, Massachusetts.
Ruth’s positive attitude and bright spirit touched everyone she met. Her kindness and joy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A wake will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at Teague Funeral Home on Ivy Road in Charlottesville. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Peace Lutheran Church, 1510 Broad Crossing Road in Charlottesville.
