Waverley Jefferson Harris Jr., born August 2, 1939, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to Waverley Jefferson Harris Sr. and Edith Mae Harris, passed away peacefully at UVA Hospital at the age of 86, surrounded by friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Waverley Jefferson Harris; his mother, Edith Mae Harris; his wife, Esther Mae Harris; his brother, Thomas Henry Harris Sr.; and two sisters, Martha Taylor and Elesbeth Shefflett.
He is survived by one sister, Margaret Morris; one daughter, Sandra Breeden (Elbert Breeden); one son, Jeffrey Harris (Sheryl Lang); four grandkids, Amanda Crawford (Chris “Goose” Crawford), Eric Breeden (Heather Breeden), Darr Harris, and Megan Pressley Harris; 13 great-grandkids; one great-great-grandkid; one special nephew, Thomas Harris Jr.; and many nephews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to join us for a visitation on Monday, February 23, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Free Union Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with a graveside service afterward at Holly Memorial Gardens.
