

Bill was born in Charlottesville, on July 31, 1951, the son of the late Emmett T. Perkins Sr. and Janice Drinkard Perkins. He was a member of the 1969 graduating class of Lane High School and proceeded to serve in the United States Army in Kirch Gons, Germany. Bill continued on to receive a BS Degree in Internet Technology from Montgomery Community College and continued his education at Mary Washington College. Bill pursued a lifetime career as an IT Mainframe Computer Senior Systems Programmer and Engineer for Fortune 500 companies such as Association of American Railroads, Washington, D.C., McDonnell Douglas, St. Louis, MO. Bill enjoyed any challenge put before him; especially in his work and sports. He enjoyed golfing, snow and water skiing, deep sea fishing, racquetball, billiards, biking, and most recently received his scuba diving certification through the Professional Association of Diving instructors (PADI).
Bill was also a member of The Elks Lodge #45, in Glen Allen, Virginia. In 1982, Bill returned to Virginia, after accepting a position at The Federal Reserve Bank, Richmond, Virginia. In 1985, he married Donna Leslie White. Bill and Donna were married 29 years, and made their home in Richmond, Virginia, before retiring and returning home to Charlottesville, in July, 2013.
After a successful career with many large corporations, Bill began his own IT consulting business, IT Consulting of Virginia.
Bill is survived by his wife, Donna; brother, Emmett T. Perkins Jr. "Tom" and his wife, Diana, and their children, Merideth and Thomas III, all of the Toano/Norge, Virginia area; brother, J. Robert Perkins "Bob" and his wife, Brenda, of Keswick, Virginia, and Bob's son, Travis Perkins, of Charlottesville. Bill is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Bill never met a stranger. He was kind and generous to his family and friends. His enthusiasm, can-do attitude, humor and winning smile will be greatly missed by all.

A memorial service for Bill will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, Virginia, with Chaplain David Cole officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date.
