Diane was born in Springfield on November 27, 1953, the daughter of Floyd and Mary (Fischer) Thompson. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy with the class of 1971 and married Kenneth McLaughlin on February 18, 1977, at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She retired as an office manager at the Village of Chatham in 2015. Diane cherished time spent with family and friends and was a woman of strong faith, and a devoted member of St. Joseph the Worker.
Holidays were beyond holidays for her, with a fully decorated yard for every season, and a house with full size candy bars for trick-or treaters. She loved life and never met a stranger. Diane especially enjoyed retirement with her ‘partner in crime’ of nearly 50 years. She enjoyed every day, especially time with her family.
She had a special connection with each of her grandkids. Diane was always trusted by the kids to keep their secrets and was always the first car in the school pickup line.
Diane is survived by her husband, Ken; children, Amy (Ryan) Kurz and Aaron (Stacey) McLaughlin, both of Chatham; siblings, Sandy Kovski of Springfield, Dan (Lynette) Thompson of Rochester, and Dave (Judy) Thompson of Springfield; grandchildren, Lydia and Kinsley McLaughlin, Logan Tomlinson, and Skylar Kurz; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Cathy Furkin.
