Arthur Joseph Kenney

Kenney, Arthur Joseph, 79, of Kennebunk, ME and Chatham, MA, passed away on November 5, 2015 after a long battle with dementia. Art was born in Fall River, to his parents Arthur and Bernice Kenney. Arthur graduated from Chatham High School, class of 1954. He served proudly in the U.S. Army contracted by the Department of Defense. Arthur worked for Western Union as a computer technician for 25 years. During his last few years there, he attended Syracuse University and acquired a Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology. Arthur then became a speech and language pathologist for the public school system which allowed him to explore his passion of teaching, helping children learn, and helping others. Arthur loved tennis, and was always eager to give lessons, he kept busy by enjoying golf, running, poetry, dancing, the Red Sox, the Celtics, clamming, skiing and attending the United Methodist Church in Chatham.

Arthur will be truly missed by his loving sons: Arthur Kenny of New Orleans, LA, Patrick Kenney and his wife Julie of Saco, ME, his devoted step-sons: Nelson Addair and his wife Joyce of Bristol, VA, Terry Addair and his wife Vonda of Lenore, NC, and Joseph Addair of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by his dear daughters: Michele Eldridge of Chatham, MA, Jennifer Highbarger and her husband Morey of Kennebunkport, ME, as well as seven cherished grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his son-in-law Mark Eldridge.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 4-6 PM at Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA. A Funeral service in his honor will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church 569 Main Street, Chatham, MA.
