

Guida Jackson Sanders was born on March 5, 1916 in Hingham, Mass. She died peacefully at 97 in her bed at home in Chatham surrounded by her family on January 7, 2014. She loved life and lived to greet the New Year.
She was artistic and creative and did many flower arrangements at Eastward Ho! Country Club and in later years at Park Place where she lived. She had a strong “joie de vivre”.
She graduated from Weymouth High School in 1934, attended Vesper George School of Art in Boston and later worked at the John Hancock Life Insurance Company in Boston. She married Charles Edwin Sanders in 1939. They were married for over 60 years.
Mrs. Sanders lived in Needham and Chatham. She leaves three children: Toby Sanders of Brewster, Pam Watson of Harvard and Peter Sanders of Lexington. Her grandchildren are Samantha Nickerson of Chepachet, RI, Laura Tomlinson of Sandwich, Diana Sanders of Newport, RI, Hayley Sanders of Brewster, Mark Sanders of Somerville, and Erika Schaad of Millis. She also leaves three great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Chatham Garden Club, the Congregational Church of Chatham and Eastward Ho! Country Club.
She will be greatly missed for her generosity of spirit, joy of life and love of flowers and fashion.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Hope Hospice, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
