

Jean M. (Willis) York, 84, of South Chatham and West Bridgewater, died on January 10, 2017 at home, from complications of heart disease. Jean was born on October 16, 1932, the daughter of Russell and Mildred (Swift) Willis.
Jean was a Registered Nurse, trained at Mass General. She worked at the Brockton V.A., also as a school nurse caring for special needs children and, after moving to Chatham full time, Jean worked at the May Institute. Jean loved Cape Cod, enjoying many happy years here with family and friends, activities at the Chatham Council on Aging and fun outings as a member of the Granberry Red Hatters. She loved to travel, was an excellent gardener, an avid New England Patriots and Red Sox fan. She also loved watching college sports on television, her favorite being the UCONN women’s basketball team.
Jean was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Murton York, her parents and two brothers, Stanley and George Willis. Jean is survived by her children, son Brian and wife Cathy York, daughter Tracy and husband Dave Dole, son Greg and wife Lynn York; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, also her sister Eleanor and husband Henry Dors, several nieces and nephews, cousins, as well as many dear friends.

A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, January 30th, 2017 from 4p-7p at Prophett-Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater, MA.
