Born on November 21, 1949, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Larry was the beloved son of the late Madeline and James Connery. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, he served aboard the USS Hawkins and carried his dedication to service and community throughout his life. He went on to work as Chief of Engineering at Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea and later retired as an engineer from the Taunton Municipal Power Plant.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife of over 50 years, Diane Connery — the love of his life, whom he cherished from the moment they met. Together, they built a life filled with deep love, laughter, and meaningful friendships. Larry and Diane shared a deep passion for music, travel, laughter, and, above all, the joy of simply being together. Theirs was a true and lasting love — a bond that will endure forever.
He is also survived by his loving sister, Karen Connery of Revere; his children, Keith Connery and his wife Amy of Wallingford, CT; Kevin Connery of Chatham; James Connery and his wife Jacki of West Yarmouth; and his loving nephew, Joseph Savarese III and his wife Karie of Glastonbury, CT. He was a proud and adoring grandfather to six grandchildren: Brendan, Jenna, Tyler, Kate, Cameron, and Morgan Connery.
Larry will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and the deep love he had for his family. Humble to the core, he would often say, “I’m just a guy,” but to those who knew him, he was so much more — a steady presence, a devoted husband and father, and a cherished friend. Larry deeply loved his family and often reminded Diane just how fortunate he felt, frequently saying with heartfelt sincerity, “I’m a lucky man.” Larry was the life of every party, even when there was not a party. He brought laughter and joy wherever he went, forming lasting friendships along the way. Some of the most treasured memories were made during his travels and cruises with family and friends — moments filled with fun, connection, and unforgettable experiences.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Sunday, May 11, 2025 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at The Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Rd, Chatham, MA 02633.
